Challenge

Cornish WebServices worked with big name client Defra, the government department for the environment, food and rural affairs to upgrade their website. Cornish were involved with this project as part of a contract with Bureau Veritas Air Quality.

Solution

Defra created a new website structure and design, Cornish then used their website expertise to copy the current pages across to this new template. Website usability and accessibility was also improved on the site. The Defra website was also put onto the Cornish content management system, Cornish CMS, in order to enable fast editing of the content by the client. Extra pages and functionality were added to ensure all the data and information was available to everyone, a key requirement of Government websites.

Cornish have several years of expertise in integrating existing websites into their CMS system. The Cornish CMS also has accessibility built in, which means the CMS automatically creates accessible code which complies with the DDA (Disability Discrimination Act) allowing everyone to access the website.
