Logistics Consultants and Educational Level needed to become a Logisti

10/09/2011

These days it is accepted that most (though by no means all) Logistics Consultants – or those thinking on embarking in a career in Logistics Consultancy need to have a business degree of some sort. This may take the form of Accountancy, Marketing, Sales Management or perhaps economics. However it is generally agreed that those coming to the industry straight from education stand a better chance of securing a career in logistics if they have done a degree that specialises in business. Other types of degrees that might help include those that are centered around technology such as Computer Studies or even engineering. Alternatively there are many examples of excellent Logistics Consultants who have pursued great careers in Logistics once they have established themselves within a company.

The Market Place and Employment Opportunities for Logistics Consultants

Despite the general worldwide economic downturn, the consulting industry is in fact expanding at an enormous rate. This is partly down to the fact that effective Logistics Consultants can greatly improve a company’s productivity and so therefore companies are keen to invest in this kind of resource. The consulting industry is expected to grow until at least 2020 – and if economically things are still globally compromised – there is no reason why logistics consultancy – as a skill set – should not still be needed and indeed in demand.

Where do Logistics Consultants work?

Logistics Consultants work generally in warehousing and in materials handling. They are also heavily involved in the actual distribution of a company’s product. A good Logistics Consultant will increase productivity through identifying cost savings – improving a company’s distribution and investing is new technology.  .
