Catering Cottages in Cornwall

28/10/2010

There are many reasons when deciding how and where you want to holiday to consider catering cottages in Cornwall. For a start Cornwall probably has the best weather in the UK – it is certainly exposed to the most sunlight. Its temperate climate ensures that it remains fairly warm throughout the year and this aids in the upkeep of some of the country’s finest gardens, Heligan being amongst them.  Cornwall is also surrounded by coastline on virtually all sides – apart from the border with neighbouring Devon. This means that when staying in Cornwall you are never far from a beach. Cornwall has the finest beaches in the UK. Whether you are after long stretches of golden sand in which to walk or build sand castles or you are looking for the stonier kind, which incidentally often produce the best rock pools, these are easily found in Cornwall. As it is a coastal county there are also miles and miles of cliff walks to explore. The mild climate ensures that they are accessible all year round.

With all these things on your doorstep, the next question is usually what is the best way to explore them? Cornwall, like most of the UK has a fine selection of hotels to choose from. Covering the budget to the high end range, these suit backpackers and students to typical ‘dinkies’ and parents whose offspring have flown the nest and now find themselves with access to some sort of disposable income.  What do you do if you are somewhere in the middle though. You have two children, one of whom is a very fussy eater and a dog to boot who absolutely refuses to board at the local kennels. The answer lies in the many catering cottages in Cornwall, of which there are several thousand to choose from. Choosing to go self catering can really take the headache away from certain aspects of your holiday. You can eat what you want, when you  want without the hassle of explaining this to hotel staff. You also don’t have to worry about the noise your children are making. These days all cottages come with clean linen and are usually well equipped with all the latest mod cons for you to enjoy.
