School websites and the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) 2000

The Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) 2000 requires that public authorities, including all maintained schools, should be clear and proactive about the information they will make public. This includes:

• The classes of information which we publish or intend to publish
• The manner in which the information will be published, and
• Whether the information is available free of charge or on payment.

One of the easiest ways for a school to comply with this aspect of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 is to provide access via a website to a Publication Scheme document, that outlines the school's policy on which types of information will be published and how.
