We can either provide a simple website editing service, or a more comprehensive service. This may be proactive copy writing / editing where it is important that a website is up to date, or part of ongoing search engine optimisation work.

Maintaining up to date website copy is usually most important for local governments and schools. For example ensuring school dates are up to date. We provide a school website maintenance service for some schools where we will advise the school and if necessary acquire the relevant material.

For businesses we more usually undertake regular website maintenance as part of ongoing search engine optimisation and offer huge discounts when doing both tasks as there is a very large overlap in the work required.

Cornish WebServices also provide alternative solutions to website management such as providing content management systems and providing training for staff to use Contribute or occasionally DreamWeaver to maintain your own website.

Will you maintain websites built by another website designer?

Yes.

However often such websites do not meet our in-house code standards with regards valid code, accessibility and search engine visibility. In such case we would expect to gradually change the code to meet our in-house standards.

Do you insist on hosting any websites you maintain?

No.

We aware that many website maintenance companies make their money through expensive hosting contracts, but this is not our policy. Provided the hosting is suitable for the task required, we are happy to either work with the existing host or we can provide website hosting as part of the maintenance contract.

What types of website can you maintain?

We can provide website maintenance for the following types of website:

dynamic database driven website

shopping carts (expertise in most common systems)
bespoke code written in HTML / ASP / ASP.net / PHP / Perl / ColdFusion / JavaScript

The only type of website for which we do not provide a website maintenance service are websites written entirely in Flash. This is a policy decision rather than due to our skills base as 100% Flash websites are not good marketing tools. We do however maintain several websites that contain various Flash elements.

What are your response times?

We can provide a varying level of service. But as an example we currently provide website maintenance for ecommerce businesses and a local government on a 2-day response. We also provide updates for smaller websites on a 2-week response time.

What are the costs of your website maintenance contracts?

This varies enormously, depending on the complexity of the website (which languages it is written in), the number of changes required and the response times required.
