Google Special Offer Ads

16/06/2011

Google is now allowing advertisers to embed money off coupons directly in their ad copy.

These ‘offer ads’ allow users to bring up offer coupons by clicking on a ‘view offer’ button within the original PPC advert. You can then save the offer in Google’s ‘My Offers’ dashboard.

This works alongside Google’s advertising ‘product extensions’, that for the first time allow advertisers to highlight images and prices of products directly in their Adwords search ads.

I innocently searched on “webhosting” this afternoon and saw this result, with an ad unit I’d never seen before: a coupon embedded in the ad copy.

I knew that Google was testing “Offer Ads,” not to be confused with Google Offers, but I’d never seen one myself.
